Printers Maintained by IT
We maintain several printers located on the 1st and 4th floors of the Physics building that anyone affiliated with Physics can use for general-purpose printing (within reason; please contact us if you need to print extremely large documents or non-standard sizes and we can help you decide if your document may be better suited for printing by UCD's Repro Graphics).
Color, black and white, and duplex (double-sided) printing are available. For these department-owned printers, we will replace toner as needed and we are your first point of contact for any issues you experience while printing to them (paper jams, printer error messages, etc.).
We also offer support for installing and troubleshooting the necessary printer drivers on your computer (on pretty much any modern OS). For technical information on setting up and using these printers please see our knowledgebase article or contact us.
We also provide general technical support for other printers (printers owned by faculty, etc). We can help with:
- Getting a quote to purchase a new printer or printer supplies/toner
- Physical printer setup/installation
- Driver installation and troubleshooting on any OS
- Printer maintenance and repair (minor issues can be fixed in-house and we can help you contact the manufacturer for major repairs)
- Other strange/mysterious printer issues (printers often seem to have a mind of their own...)
If you have a printer in the Physics Building and would like assistance with any of these things or anything else, just let us know and we'll do our best to help.
Please note that while we can help you get a quote to purchase more toner/supplies or point you in the right direction for repair of any printer in the building, the department only covers the cost of supplies and maintenance/repair for the IT-maintained printers mentioned at the top of the page. If you're using a printer but don't know who owns it, we can help you find the right person, just let us know.
